Frequently Asked Questions

What Do NDIS Occupational Therapists Do?

NDIS Occupational Therapists work with people with disabilities to enable them to bring meaning and purpose to their lives. They achieve this by working with them to assess, review and recommend evidence-based methods/strategies and plans to engage in the occupations or activities that they want, need, or are expected to do. These assessments, reports or recommendations can be in relation to modifying environments, supports or activities in ways that can help clients achieve their occupational activity goals.

What Kind of Therapy or Assessment Do I Need?

During your NDIS Planning Meeting, your LAC Planner or previous OT would have made recommendations or requests for particular types of assessments or therapy, based on your individual needs. Your NDIS Plan will detail what you are funded for, which can include funds for either or both assessments and ongoing therapies.

Where Are My Occupational Therapy Sessions Held?

We offer both in-home and in-clinic sessions. You can choose to do one, either or combine both to suit your needs. You may also want to do sessions where you are most comfortable, whether this is at home, in the community or in our clinic. You can also bring a support person or carer with you, to ensure you are comfortable and to ensure you have the supports you need to continue with any ongoing activities. Our OTs also offer training for support workers or carers, if they can assist in your ongoing management.
